Sinh ra và lớn lên tại Sài Gòn trong thập niên 1960, quá trẻ để có thể tham dự trực tiếp vào chiến tranh Việt Nam, nhưng đủ lớn để thấy nhiều đau thương tang tóc. Sau 1975, gia đình gặp nhiều khổ nạn, như hàng vạn gia đình khác ở Việt Nam. Đầu năm 1980, hai cha con bị bắt về tội tổ chức vượt biên, tôi bị đưa đi lao động khổ sai tại Đồng Xoài, cha tôi chết trong trại giam Phan Đăng Lưu. Sau khi mãn án, năm 1983 vượt biên đến Mã-lai, trải qua ba trại tị nạn ở Mã-lai và Phi-luật-tân trước khi đến Mỹ năm 1984. Tại trại tị nạn Bataan, tôi tin Chúa 5 ngày trước khi đi Mỹ và nhận lễ báp-tem 1 ngày trước khi lên máy bay đến Dallas, Texas để định cư. Không bao lâu sau khi định cư ở Mỹ, tôi quyết định gia nhập quân đội Hoa kỳ, binh chủng Thủy Quân Lục Chiến (1986-1990), với ý định chia sẻ tấm lòng hy sinh của những chiến sĩ miền Nam Việt Nam.

Từ tù nhân đến thuyền nhân và quân nhân, những kinh nghiệm này đã giúp tôi hiểu lời các sứ đồ nói với các môn đệ Chúa, "Chúng ta phải trải qua nhiều hoạn nạn mới vào được Nước Đức Chúa Trời" (Công vụ 14:22b). Tôi vào trường Kinh thánh, dâng mình hầu việc Chúa, sẳn sàng chịu khổ vì nước Chúa cùng với biết bao con cái Chúa, đầy tớ Chúa ngày xưa, ngày nay, và trong tương lai.

- Tổng thư ký Liên Hữu Báp-tít (2002-2006)

- Nắm giữ nhiều chức vụ khác nhau trong Viện Thần Học Báp-tít VBTS, Cơ Quan Truyền Giáo VMB, Cơ Quan Trường Chúa Nhật (Lifeway)

- Lập gia đình năm 1989, có hai con gái Diễm-Mi (27 tuổi) và Khánh-Huyền (20 tuổi)

Born and raised in Saigon, South Vietnam during the Vietnam War, too young to directly participate but old enough to witness much suffering. After 1975 when the Communists took over, my family suffered greatly along with countless of other families at that time. In 1980, my father and I were put in prison for organizing an escape by boat; my father died in prison and I was sent to Dong Xoai forced labor camp. After getting out, I escaped again in 1983 successfully to Malaysia, spending a year in three refugee camps in Malaysia and the Philippines. In the Bataan refugee camp in the Philippines, I accepted Christ five days and was baptized one day before getting on a plane to resettle in Dallas, Texas. Not long after moving to the US in 1984, I enlisted in the US Marine Corps (1986-1990), fulfilling a personal wish to share the suffering with the soldiers and people of South Vietnam.

From prisoner to boat refugee to soldier, I experienced personally what the apostles said in Acts 14:22b, "through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God." I went to seminary, surrendered to ministry, willing to suffer for the kingdom of God, along with many other Christian pastors and church members in the past, present and future.

- Graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC with a D.Min. in Pastoral Ministry (2017)

- General Secretary of Vietnamese National Baptist Fellowship (2002-2006)

- Served in various capacities with Vietnamese Baptist Theological School (VBTS), Vietnamese Mission Board (VMB), Lifeway for Vietnamese (writer)

- Married to Tam in 1989, have two daughters, Lucy (27 y/o) and Angela (20 y/o)
